FAQ

When do y’all run? And where?

Running times can be found on our schedule page. In short, evening runs are held M-TH at 5:15 or 6PM depending on daylight savings time. Morning runs are held T/TH 7AM, and long runs Saturdays at 7AM.

We meet in front of Gregory Gym to the right of the main stairs by the big Oak tree.

Where we run on any given days depends on that day’s route, which are randomly selected. These routes take you all over Austin starting and ending at Gregory Gym. See a running captain for more information on the day’s route!

Do I have to be fast?

We have people of all levels of competition in the club. If you enjoy running but aren’t the fastest out there, don’t worry about it! We would still love to have you come out to run and get to know us. On the other end, if you want to run at a high level and compete, we have people for that too. We hold speed work sessions once a week in order to help each other achieve racing goals and get some PR’s. In any race we do, we will always aim to field a strong team to compete.

What distances do y’all run?

For each of our daily routes, we have roughly 3, 5, and 7 mile loop options. They all start going the same direction, and for each distance, groups for each distance will break off.

Long runs are typically 9-13 miles.

For those interested in more intense training – we have track Tuesdays which focuses on improving anything from your 100m time, all the way up to Marathon times. These are led by our track coaches each week, talk to them for more information!

Besides the runs are there other meetings?

We only have one meeting per semester, and that’s the info meeting. There you will hear more about the club live in person from current officers, and can have any questions answered. These info meetings are not mandatory to attend, and most information can be found on this website or by talking to officers. However there is free pizza 👀

Are the runs mandatory?

NO. Runs are NOT mandatory. Come run with us when you want to! If you want to come once in a blue moon because you are really busy, then you do you! We realize everyone has a busy college schedule, and running every day is not in the books for everyone.

Do I have to pay to run with the club?

Not at all! Anyone is allowed to come out and run with us. The only differences are: members receive discounts for local races (you know this helps a lot as a college student), members get to participate in our relay races (best experience ever), and competitive members get free entry to our many XC and track races! Let’s face it. The membership is definitely worth it. Oh and did I mention you get a free TRC shirt? Information on becoming a member can be found here!

How do I become a member?

At our semesterly meeting we give more info about becoming an official member with RecSports. In short, you will be required to fill out a membership packet with RecSports, and pay dues for either the year or just the semester. Is it worth it? You best believe it! For step-by-step instructions on becoming a member click here!

What do I get out of being a member?

Um… everything! Well I mean you get discounts on a lot of local races, and a free t-shirt. Not only that you get to engage and run with the coolest people on campus! Talk to any current member about C2C or TIR and you’ll see why becoming a member is worth it. I promise you will get not only better in your running, but you will meet tons of new awesome people that can become your lifelong friends!

Where can I put my stuff before I go run?

Greg Gym has lockers you can rent out for a day and you keep a key to reopen it. There are also day-use lockers in the locker rooms, you just need to bring your own lock. You could also leave all your stuff in your dorm/apartment since most people just carry their keys or phone when running. Or leave everything in the tree 😉
